Sesquicentennial for Yale.—
The Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, will celebrate next year the 150th anniversary of its founding with several special events, Dr. Vernon W. Lippard, dean of the school, announced. The anniversary year will open next fall and extend until June, 1961. The first major program in the celebration will come Oct. 28-29 with the regular University Alumni Board Convocation devoted to a review of medical developments, past and present. It was in October, 1810, that the Connecticut General Assembly granted a charter to Yale College for the establishment of the medical school, making it the sixth oldest medical institution in the country. Other events being planned for next year include a scientific meeting, exhibitions (including one on medical art in the Yale Art Gallery), special lectures, and the publication of a history of the medical school.
