Colonel Glass Receives Award.—
Col. Albert J. Glass, chief psychiatry and neurology consultant to the surgeon general, received the Gorgas award for his role in the development of preventive psychiatry. The award, consisting of a silver medallion, a citation, and $500, was presented during the annual dinner of the Association of Military Surgeons in Washington. The award is made by Wyeth Laboratories in memory of Surgeon General William C. Gorgas, whose work in controlling yellow fever made possible the construction of the Panama Canal.
NAVY
Admiral Cooper Honored.—
Vice-adm. Thomas F. Cooper, M. C., U. S. Navy, retired, was presented the Founder's medal by the Association of Military Surgeons at the annual convention in Washington, D. C., in November. This award, consisting of a scroll and a life membership in the association, was given for outstanding contribution to military medicine and for meritorious service to the association.
