COPIES OF GUIDES TO EVALUATION OF PERMANENT IMPAIRMENT  The American Medical Association Committee on Medical Rating of Physical Impairment has announced the availability of copies of two guides dealing with the evaluation of permanent impairment. Copies of guides entitled the "Visual System" and the "Extremities and Back" can be obtained without charge by addressing a request to the committee at 535 N. Dearborn St., Chicago 10. The guides were published initially as special editions of The Journal of the American Medical Association during 1958. Those who desire copies of either or both of these guides are urged to have their requests in prior to Dec. 30, 1959.Since January, 1955, when the first disability provision in the social security law became effective, the Social Security Administration has received about one and one-half million disability claims.
