Space Age Display.—
The space age display showing the latest research projects under way at the Air Force School of Aviation Medicine won a certificate of achievement for the best display in the military medicine section at the Atlantic City meeting in June. The exhibit showed the progress in such areas of space medicine research as weightlessness, closed systems which produce oxygen photosynthetically, and sealed space cabin simulator experimentation.

Dr. Samuel H. Bassett, assistant director of professional services for research at the Veterans Administration center in Los Angeles, and Dr. Edward D. Freis, chief of the medical service at the Mount Alto (Washington, D. C.) VA Hospital, were appointed the agency's first senior medical investigators. In their new senior research positions, these physicians will remain at their VA hospitals to apply their research skills full time to health problems of greatest importance to veterans. The
