Erythema nodosum is a reaction pattern of the skin characterized by the formation of symmetrical, nodular, erythematous, painful, and tender swellings on the pretibial surface of the legs. Less frequently, the lesions may appear on other parts of the body. The cause is not always determined but is usually a manifestation of an infection or drug eruption.1 Although erythema nodosum is not an uncommon manifestation of a deep fungal infection, such as coccidioidomycosis,2 to our knowledge there has been no reported association of this syndrome with histoplasmosis. The purpose of this report is to describe erythema nodosum occurring as a manifestation of histoplasmosis.
