ABSTRACT

NAVY 

Tissue Bank Training Course.—  A two-week Tissue Bank Training Course offered at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md. is now available to any eligible inactive naval reserve medical officer. This training may commence on any Monday morning and provides orientation in the operation and administration of a tissue bank. It includes (1) indoctrination in the methods of tissue procurement; (2) storage and dispensing; (3) tissue culture; (4) tissue chemistry; (5) processing excised tissue and allied short and long-term research projects in the tissue culture and tissue chemistry fields; (6) indoctrination in the medicolegal aspects of homotransplantation; (7) the procedure for obtaining permission for tissue donations; and (8) familiarization with the operation of the Tissue Bank Registry and all other administrative practices associated with tissue banking.Reserve medical officers from the First, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth, and Ninth Naval Districts may attend this course on a limited quota
