The author is one of the foremost psychoanalysts in the United States and one of the first trained here, but he has never ceased to be a physician, psychiatrist, and teacher. In fact, his extensive creativity has expressed itself in countless ways, including developing a gigantic training center at Topeka, Kansas. He is, therefore, well qualified for the authorship of an authentic book on psychoanalytic technique, which he presents in an undogmatic, easily understood way with illustrations and cogent extractions from the literature. An instructive bibliography and an adequate index are included. The book is highly recommended not alone for student analysts but for all psychiatrists interested in psychodynamic psychotherapy.
