ABSTRACT

The purpose of the conference here reported was to explore the possibilities of providing comprehensive medical care for older people. The organization of the conference is clearly outlined in this book, including a list of participants, committee assignments, and a calendar of events. The proceedings of the opening session (convocation by Philip M. Kaiser, opening address by Governor Harriman, and an address by Health Commissioner Herman E. Hilleboe) are presented in their entirety. The article on Financing Medical Care for the Aged, by Oscar N. Serbein, outlines the extent and nature of the problem. Additional documents by Odin W. Anderson, Henry W. Steinhaus, Franz Goldmann, and Joseph T. Freeman contain information on the background of this problem.
