To the Editor:—
One sees many references in the lay press, and even in professional journals, to "drunken drivers." This is unfortunate in many respects. I would like to urge that we substitute the words "drinking drivers." This does not have the same immoral connotation in the mind of the average person and yet is an equally valid label from the standpoint of accident prevention. In fact, I feel sure that emphasis is needed on the hazards of alcohol consumption for drivers regardless of the resultant degree of impairment of judgment.
