ALABAMA 

Children's Health Council.—  Representatives of 13 civic and fraternal organizations met in Birmingham in December and formed the St. Lucie Children's Health Council to provide medical services for children of the community whose parents are unable to provide it. Two members of the medical profession are being asked to serve on the board of directors. The council is a project of the Junior Woman's Club. The Soroptimist Club of Fort Pierce has announced that it will take care of clerical work of the council.

CALIFORNIA 

Research in Causes of Blindness.—  A grant of $3,500 to the Stanford University School of Medicine, San Francisco, for two research projects concerned with amblyopia ex anopsia (partial blindness associated with strabismus) and congenital cataracts has been made by the National Society for the Prevention of Blindness.
