ALLOTMENT OF FEDERAL FUNDS FOR VENEREAL DISEASE CONTROL

The Surgeon General of the United States Public Health Service, with the approval of the Federal Security Administrator, has recently issued regulations under which federal funds for carrying out the Venereal Disease Control Act are to be distributed for the fiscal year 1941.¹ Federal grants-in-aid totaling $5,672,388, or 88.8 per cent of the $6,200,000 appropriated,² will be allotted, compared to $4,379,250 which was allotted for 1940.³ Allotments amounting to 26.7 per cent of the money available will be made to the states in the ratio in which the population of each state bears to the population of the United States as shown by the Census Bureau 1937 midyear population estimates.
