Sir Stanford Cade's original single volume, which has found an honored place on the shelf of daily reference volumes possessed by all radiologists, is now being thoroughly revised and rewritten, even though much of the original material was destroyed by enemy action during the last world war.
The new second edition will appear as four volumes. Volume 1, before us, carefully planned, well organized, well written, documented and illustrated, presents the fundamentals of radium therapy. The section on radium dosimetry presents a clear outline of the basic principles underlying the therapeutic application of roentgen rays and radium. The chapters on biologic effects of radiation on normal and malignant tissues leaves the reader with the feeling that the author has done his job well in setting forth the established facts in a concise and easily remembered form.
