The basis of this book is the examination of intrathoracic electrocardiograms obtained by the closed method in 100 patients on whom pneumonolysis was performed, and, in addition, similar electrocardiographic data obtained by the open method. This gave the authors the opportunity of obtaining the configuration of the human electrocardiogram at the surface of the auricles and ventricles as well as that over the great vessels, diaphram and lungs.
The monograph crystallizes the recent work of the authors and documents these methods and findings in detail. The format is excellent and the profuse illustrations are well reproduced. They form a valuable addition to the data on electrocardiography which helps to round out data obtained by the customary methods and more recently by intracavity leads.
