ABSTRACT

COMMITTEE ON MEDICAL SERVICES OF THE ARMED FORCES  On January 12, Mr. Forrestal, Secretary of Defense, released a part of the report of the Committee on Medical Services of the Armed Forces, known as the Hawley Board, which has been studying these services for many months. The members of the committee, in addition to Gen. Paul Hawley, include Maj. Gen. R. W. Bliss, Surgeon General of the Army; Admiral Clifford A. Swanson, Surgeon General of the Navy; Maj. Gen. Malcolm C. Grow, Surgeon General of the Air Force, and Admiral J. T. Boone. The portion of the report thus far released concerns programs for hospitalization in the armed forces and for improvement in the utilization of existing hospital facilities.
