The information contained in the monograph makes available to the medical profession an accurate digest of the work done in a large and important chemotherapeutic field. It also permits a proper evaluation of that work and points out certain areas in which additional research may be profitable.
The monograph gives a fairly complete survey of the experimental work in the field of sulfonamides and related compounds. The book is divided into twelve chapters, seven of which are devoted to the chemistry and pharmacology of simple and complex sulfanilamide derivatives and of sulfones and related compounds. Most of the sulfonamides and sulfones which have been prepared and tested are arranged in convenient tables which list their activities with respect to various organisms and give appropriate references. The compiled material is grouped into 323 tables and contains 2668 references.
The volume also includes chapters on the experimental method used in the evaluation
