This volume presents a series of units of instruction suggested as a basis for developing the junior and senior high school health and physical education curriculum. The health instruction units may be used for a year's concentrated work in health education, or they can be adapted for presentation in two one-semester courses. The units in physical education provide for a daily period of teaching for grades 7 through 12, but are flexible enough in their organization to allow for adjustment to other instructional procedures.
A concise clearly worded section on "organization and administration" should be most helpful to school authorities in developing local policies for health and physical education and in establishing plans appropriate to the needs of individual school situations.
The instructional units were originally prepared under the author's direction at a University of Texas workshop in 1944, and were published in bulletin form by the Texas State Department
