Pediatric gynecology is a special field in which neither the pediatrician nor the gynecologist had a special interest prior to the publication of the first edition of this book. The problems of the reproductive organs peculiar to childhood and adolescence were emphasized and brought together in one small volume which met wide approval. The present edition brings the material up to date since the publication of the first edition in 1941.
The book discusses normal anatomic and physiologic changes as the child develops through puberty, adolescence and maturity. There are few pathologic conditions at this period, but they are discussed fully. The functional abnormalities of the reproductive organs are treated intelligently. Perhaps more space could be devoted to the menstrual irregularities associated with adolescence and maturity. The environmental viscera such as the peritoneum, the bladder and the rectum are likewise considered. There are pertinent chapters on the social service and
