A DATE WITH DISASTER

ABSTRACT

On June 20, the day preceding the opening of the Annual Meeting of the American Medical Association in San Francisco, the Council on National Emergency Medical Service will conduct the second National Medical Civil Defense Conference. It is the purpose of this meeting to impress on the individual physician his vital role in medical civil defense plans for the care of casualties in the event of disaster. This reorientation and stimulation is particularly important in the light of recent developments in hydrogen and atomic weapons. The meeting, which will be held from 9:30 a. m. until 4:00 p. m. in the Concert Room of the Palace Hotel, will feature outstanding medical civil defense speakers and will be attended by individual physicians interested in civil defense as well as by state and national governmental officials.
