This is the seventh printing of a work originally issued ten years ago. The emphasis is on rearing superior children through superior methods of care, with individualization in keeping with the needs of individual children. As in the original work, a rounded consideration of physical, intellectual, emotional and social aspects of the child's development and of his training needs is essayed. Feeding schedules at various ages, special diets, details and specific instructions in habit training are given. The implications of personal relationships in the personality development of the child are discussed. Reviewing this book after a lapse of some years, one is again impressed with the fact that the author's own excellent thesis is not always adequately supported by his outlook and practices as detailed in the text. Early "conditioning" is overemphasized in training, with advocacy of too early and too rigid methods, e. g. in bowel and bladder training.
