ABSTRACT

This is a small volume, one of a series of books each containing the annual lectures given in the series dedicated to the memory of Dr. Thomas W. Salmon. The material given here about psychopathic states is not new but it is extremely well presented. The book consists of a short historical introduction containing a discussion of the various components producing conduct disorders, but most of the volume is devoted to a discussion of the clinical manifestations of the psychopath. Henderson divides the psychopathic states into those characterized primarily by, first, aggressive conduct. In this group he discusses suicides and criminal individuals. The second group are those characterized primarily by inadequacy, in which the psychotoids and borderline psychopathic cases are analyzed.
