With the intention of providing not a catalogue of all dermatological treatments but rather a workable, handy reference, the authors have compiled a compact dermatological formulary that is divided into two sections. The first part lists some commonly used and time-tested drugs and describes their indications, mode of action, chemical structures, dosages, and methods of application. The second part proposes treatment regimens for some of the commoner diseases, such as acne, psoriasis, and eczema, which require simultaneous or progressive treatment. Wherever specific treatment is not available, alternate measures are suggested to meet specific problems. The inclusion of such newer therapeutic agents as steroids, depigmenting and hyperpigmenting agents, enzymatic débridement, and ion exchange resins brings the book up-to-date.
