STATEMENT OF DR. BENSON 

Dr. Cary:—  The next one to speak will speak on the subject of the Care of the Indigent. I present Dr. Robert L. Benson of Portland, Ore., a member of the Oregon State Welfare Commission, and also a member of the Oregon State Board of Health.Dr. Robert L. Benson, Portland, Ore., member of the Oregon State Public Health Commission and member of the Oregon State Board of Health:—For years I have been a member of the state relief and welfare agency of Oregon under three state administrations of three different political parties. Anything that I can say here is nonpartisan.

Senator Wagner:—  May I interrupt you? I am a little curious, and I am sure the chairman won't mind. You said that you worked under three political parties. What is the third one?

Dr. Benson:—  Independent. I
