Psychosomatic Research

This book is based on two presidential addresses made by the author before the American Psychosomatic Society and the Chicago Psychoanalytic Society. Dr. Grinker is a well-known authority in the field on which he writes. The book consists of an exposition of his ideas and reflections and gives an over-all view of the field of psychosomatic medicine. In addition, it "attempts to develop a conceptual outline for new programs of psychosomatic research which may be valuable to others." It is justly called "A challenging appraisal of current psychosomatic concepts by one of the most active leaders in this field." The book delineates historical and current concepts, evaluates theoretical formulations and operational procedures, and discusses emperical observations.
