ABSTRACT

To the Editor:—  In The Journal, Aug. 27, 1938, page 863, Dr. E. F. Kiser stated that he knew of no coin bearing the portrait of a physician other than the one struck by Austria'in 1929 commemorating Theodor Billroth.Lithuania in 1936 commemorated Dr. Jonas Basanavicius on a 5 litas silver coin, and Brazil in 1937 struck a 400 reis nickel coin with the portrait of Oswaldo Cruz.I should be glad to hear from interested physicians if other such coins have been issued by any country.
