Institute of Living.—
About $100,000 has been donated by friends to the Institute of Living at Hartford for the erection of three new cottages, which will be in the Tudor style and of fire-proof construction. In each cottage there will be a combination gymnasium and recreation room and modern hydrotherapy facilities. Occupancy is scheduled for January and February, 1950.
Institute on Maternity Nursing.—
The Yale University School of Nursing and the Connecticut State Department of Health will conduct an Institute on Maternity Nursing November 28-December 2. The institute will include lectures and small discussion groups, mornings and afternoons. Emphasis will be placed on some of the recently developed procedures, such as natural childbirth, rooming-in, early ambulation, self-demand feeding and parents' classes. Participants in the institute, which will be held in the Yale School of Nursing, will be: Dr. Herbert Thoms, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Yale University School
