ABSTRACT

This book on diseases of the breast, the first edition of which appeared in 1943, gives a thorough account of etiology, diagnosis and treatment. The author's aim has been to make the treatise useful to the general practitioner as well as to the specialist. The first part deals with the development and physiology of the breast, methods of examination and diagnosis. The second part contains discussions of the breast in pregnancy and lactation. In the third part is discussed chronic cystic mastitis and in the fourth part benign tumors. Part five is devoted to malignant tumors, part six to treatment and part seven to the experimental production of mammary tumors. This edition contains a number of revisions and some additions; some new illustrations have been added and the bibliography has been brought up to date. The book contains much useful information, but on the whole the presentation is uncritical and
