ABSTRACT

This edition retains in general form the outline of the previous editions. The various chapters and subjects have, in the main, been revised, rewritten and brought down to date. A chapter on rickets has been added and the older chapters on vitamin deficiencies have been extensively revised. Some new tables have been appended and several color plates on rickets and the skin diseases have been added. The author has incorporated his latest researches on water balance in the chapter on nutritional disturbances and he has included in an outstanding chapter on eczema much of his experimental work on this subject. The literature is brought through the end of 1937. With the advent of the third edition, in 1924, it seemed that the author's book had reached the acme of perfection.
