ABSTRACT

Accepted terminology is used in this classification. Synonyms, cross references and symptoms are included. Although designed primarily for large medical libraries, the book may be used to advantage in correlating medical libraries with medical record libraries in small institutions. The scheme of the etiologic section of the "Standard Nomenclature of Diseases and Operations" has been used in the grouping of diseases of specific anatomic structures. This makes it possible to use the disease nomenclature as a guide to the etiologic grouping of books on shelves. Hospital administrators may beneficially consider use of this classification in combining these two libraries.
