To the Editor:
—The favorable results obtained by Drs. Milhorat, Techner, and Thomas (Proc. Soc. Exper. Biol. & Med.29:609, 1932) in the treatment of progressive muscular dystrophy with glycine will undoubtedly lead to a more extensive use of this compound in therapy. It seems therefore necessary at this time to call attention to the fact that glycine, also called glycocoll, should not be confused with the photographic developer which is sold under the trade name of glycin. This compound is chemically p-hydroxyphenylaminoacetic acid and is distinctly poisonous.
