District Meeting.—
The Ninth Councilor District Medical Society met at the Hotel Seville, Harrison, December 1. The speakers were Drs. Francis Walter Carruthers, Little Rock, on "Diagnosis and Treatment of Vascular Diseases of the Extremities"; Sidney J. Wolfermann, Fort Smith, "Early Diagnosis of Intestinal Obstruction"; Melvin E. McCaskill, Little Rock, "Congenital Defects of the Uterus"; Grady W. Reagan, Little Rock, "Principles of Treatment of Gonorrhea," and Charles T. Chamberlain, Fort Smith, "Common Colds."

Dr. Porter Returns as Dean.—
Dr. Langley Porter, who retired this year as dean of the University of California Medical School, San Francisco, has returned to the position at the request of President Robert Gordon Sproul. His appointment is effective immediately. He succeeds the Dr. Williams McKim Marriott, who died shortly after taking over the duties of dean. Dr. Porter has been associated with the University of California since 1918.
