There is conclusive evidence that methionine can replace cystine; at the present time it is doubtful whether cystine can replace methionine.
W. C. Rose and his collaborators have reported before the 1936 meeting of the Society of Biological Chemists that valine, an amino acid not present in gelatin, is indispensable in the diet.
