This brochure includes a collection of addresses delivered as part of a course for physicians at the newly established institute at Aachen, Germany, for the investigation of the rheumatoid problem. An introductory foreword is followed by eleven contributions by different observers and students of various aspects of the field. The subjects considered are, in order, essential muscular rheumatism; rheumatism in childhood; blood observations in rheumatic diseases; pathologic anatomy and histology of infectious rheumatism; clinical aspects of chronic joint diseases; pathologic anatomy of chronic joint diseases; treatment of chronic rheumatic diseases from the standpoint of physical therapy and internal medicine; the surgical treatment of chronic joint diseases; orthopedic surgery and rheumatism; the etiology and treatment of acute inflammation of the joints, and differential diagnosis between gout and chronic rheumatoid conditions.
