Modern urologic diagnosis is dependent not only on cystoscopy but also on ureteral catheterization, a study of renal function, roentgen examinations and pyelography. These subjects as well as operative cystoscopy are considered by the author, and because of its completeness the book is a novel departure from the usual works on cystoscopy. The subject of cystoscopy, of course, takes the lead and about one half of the book is devoted to its exposition. A point that is well taken and of such importance that it is rightly stressed by the author is the value of the history and a careful physical examination before cystoscopy is done. The various types of cystoscopes and the technic involved in achieving the best results in cystoscopic examination are discussed in a thorough manner, as well as the various kinds of anesthesia.
