ABSTRACT

This is one of the most sensible books of advice for the average man that has come to the attention of this reviewer, who has seen practically every book on the subject that has been published in this country during the last five years. It is doubtful whether the opening chapters on the choice of a physician, on the question of the physician's fee and on when to call a doctor could be improved on. The subsequent chapters do not say too much. They discuss various forms of pain and the measures to following in finding out the cause and in securing relief. The chapter on the medicine chest is sound. Finally and particularly, the style and the directness and the understanding of human nature are exactly what they should be.
