ABSTRACT

This covers ear, nose and throat diseases completely in its comparatively small space. After a description of the various methods of examination, as well as an outline of the instrumentarium that is needed, there are chapters on the nose, the pharynx, the larynx and the ear. At the end of the book is a rather long list of various formulas and therapeutic agents used in otolaryngology. Operative indications and procedures are well outlined, and the author shows a rather conservative attitude with reference to the former. The chapter on hearing tests shows the word Rinne spelt with an accent over the e; Rinne is a German name and there should be no accent over the e. In a description of the Schwabach test, the author states that it "consists in comparing the number of seconds that the fork is heard on the mastoid and at the meatus in a normal
