ABSTRACT

A Case of Herpes Zoster of Periodic Type  At the recent meeting of the Oradea Medical Society, Dr. V. Stephan reported on a patient subject to periodic attacks of herpes zoster, who first came under treatment while free of the disease. He complained of paresthetic symptoms in the left half of the mouth. Examination of the cavity revealed nothing abnormal. He prescribed quinine, which had no effect whatever; then 10 drops of solution of potassium arsenite daily, also without effect. Later on pills of ergot and quinine bromide were ordered, and the herpetic area was treated with ultraviolet rays. A hundred pills were taken within four months. This time there was no recurrence of herpes, and the paresthetic symptoms disappeared.
