PROMOTION OF VISCOUNT GOTO TO COUNT
Viscount Goto has served his country well in politics as well as in medicine since his service in the military hospital in Osaka in 1877. Thus he was promoted to the rank of count on the occasion of the emperor's enthronement, which was held last November. At the same time a degree was conferred on him by the University of Hamburg, Germany. The German envoy to the ceremony informed him of it at a farewell dinner given to him by his friends here.
