ABSTRACT

Pediatrician Appointed Assistant Chief of Children's Bureau  Dr. Martha M. Eliot, associate clinical professor of pediatrics at Yale University School of Medicine and for several years director of the division of maternal and child health in the Children's Bureau of the U. S. Department of Labor, has been appointed assistant chief of the bureau in charge of all matters relating to health. Dr. Eliot, a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, has carried on investigations on growth, nutrition, rickets and diet, with emphasis on the preventive and economic aspects of the problems. She was made instructor in the pediatric department at Yale in 1921, assistant clinical professor in 1927 and associate clinical professor in 1932. At present she is attending pediatrician to the New Haven Hospital and New Haven Dispensary. She has been on the staff of the Children's Bureau since 1924. Among other medical affiliations,
