To the Editor:—
I take this opportunity to add my word of commendation to the thousands which I know you have already received on the leading editorial, "Antihormones," in The Journal, August 18. Dr. Cushing undoubtedly issued a sound note of warning against the indiscriminate use of endocrine products and I am pleased to see you again warning the doctors about so-called isolated active principles. I have in mind chiefly or particularly the extract of the anterior lobe of the pituitary, which I believe is now known to produce a growth factor. My research on cancer cases at the autopsy table has led me to believe that in this condition the anterior lobe is hyperactive. For this reason I cannot help but feel that you have shown the part of wisdom in proclaiming your announcement.
