The terms child guidance clinic and community clinic are practically synonymous. They are psychiatric clinics concerned with the behavior disorders of children. They imply a responsibility for more than diagnosis and treatment by a physician. The staff of these clinics is made up of psychiatrists, psychologists who conduct and interpret objective approaches to the evaluation chiefly of intelligence, performance capacities and achievements, social workers who carry examination and treatment beyond the confines of the quarters of the clinic, and sometimes a pediatrician. Essential is the fact that these persons work not as independent consultants but as a coordinate unit, making really one examination, one report and one plan of treatment.
