This small monograph on the surgical treatment of tuberculosis of the lungs is a joint contribution by Bruner, the head of the university surgical clinic at Munich, and by Baer, the head of the department dealing with lung diseases, thus presenting the subject from both a surgical and a medical point of view. The authors realize that each case of tuberculosis of the lung must be considered separately so far as the plan of treatment is concerned, and they have attempted to summarize our present knowledge of the surgical management of these cases and the particular indications for the various types of surgical treatment. This constitutes an important borderline subject between medical and surgical treatment of tuberculosis, and it is precisely this that is analyzed in this contribution.
