New Director of Industrial Hygiene.—
Dr. Edwin H. Place, a member of the staff of the division of industrial hygiene, National Institute of Health, Bethesda, Md., has been appointed director of the division of industrial hygiene of the Alabama State Department of Health, it is reported. He succeeds Dr. John R. Cain, Montgomery, who resigned several months ago. Dr. Place graduated at Detroit College of Medicine and Surgery in 1932 and has served as director of the Des Moines County health department in Iowa and in Midland and Dickinson counties in Michigan.
Harold E. Jones, Ph.D., director of the Institute of Child Welfare on the Berkeley campus of the University of California, has been appointed a member of the National Research Council in the division of anthropology and psychology.
