The Meeting of the Smallpox Commission of the Health Section of the League of Nations
January 13 and 14, the deliberations of the commission of the health section of the League of Nations, which was delegated to consider ways and means to restore smallpox vaccination, were held in Berlin. The commission established a standard for testing the virulence of vaccine, which affords the physician the assurance that he has in his hands a tested preparation of proper potency. Thus, a method that has been practically employed in Germany for several years has been recommended for use in all civilized countries. The crusade against smallpox is to be carried on with great vigor in all the countries participating in the convention, for, as is well known, in several countries in which vaccination has been allowed to languish there has been, in recent years, a marked recrudescence of smallpox.
