To the Editor:
—Your articles "The Art and Practice of Medical Writing" were instructive and entertaining. In them I did not see any reference to the growing tendency to use nouns as adjectives. Dr. W. W. Keen called this usage to our attention several years ago. He strongly deprecated it."Heart stimulant, lung surgery, stomach disease" and others seem to be with us to stay. In one of our foremost surgical journals I recently read of the "vessel lumen" being smaller. I have never seen "femur fracture" in print, but I am awaiting its appearance with confidence.
