Meeting of the French Surgical Society
The thirty-ninth annual meeting of the Société française de chirurgie was held, October 6, in the Great Hall of the Faculté de médecine. The corridors, together with booths erected in the courtyard, were replete with exhibits of apparatus and equipment. The president was Dr. Auvray, agrégé professor at the Faculté de médecine de Paris and surgeon to the Hôpitaux de Paris, who was assisted by the vice president, Professor Lambret of Lille, and by the general secretary, Dr. Grégoire. It has been the custom to appoint each year, as the honorary president, a national figure who, though not a medical man, has shown interest in medicine. Maréchal Joffre, Maréchal Lyautey and others have been accorded that honor. This year Mr. Paul Bourget, whose plays and stories contain many allusions to physiologic psychology and who has shown, all his life, a great predilection for medicine,
