This elementary textbook is intended as a preclinical companion volume to Ivan Maxwell's "Clinical Biochemistry." Each "lesson" gives a brief "theoretical" discussion of the subject matter followed by the most elementary qualitative laboratory experiments, many of which are misleading because of the qualitative character of the work and the brevity of the theoretical presentation. The authors present a great array of facts and tests in 1, 2, 3 and a, b, c orders. Almost no experimental evidence is cited to support the theoretical conclusions given. The text is too elementary for the class A schools in the United States.
