—The base hospital of the Alaska Railroad, located at Anchorage, Alaska, was operated at a cost of $46,011 during the last fiscal year. The loss sustained was $22,716, which is $679 more than the loss in operation for the previous fiscal year. The cost per patient was $5.77, as compared with $6.90 in 1925. The patient days for the fiscal year were 7,973.5, with 3,579 employees of the Alaska Railroad and 404 United States soldiers receiving free service in the hospital. A total of 260 operations were performed during the year. Dr. Joseph H. Romig was transferred from the position of assistant surgeon of the railroad at Fairbanks to railroad surgeon at the Anchorage base hospital,
