Shall Children Be Instructed on Sex Matters?  The Ligue de l'enseignement de Belgique submitted to an assembly of physicians and teachers the following question: Does ignorance of sex matters in children contribute to the spread of venereal disease? The assembly was of the opinion that the lack of instruction on this subject is a defect in our educational system. The committee held that it would be advisable to organize systematic courses of instruction which are adapted to the age of the pupils to prepare them to understand the physical and moral importance of reproduction. It was pointed out what primary teachers could do to prepare for more definite instruction in later grades.It would be advisable to organize also in the normal schools a special course for teachers in sex education.In the primary grades instruction would begin with a study of fecundation in the vegetable kingdom.
