FURTHER EXPERIENCES WITH THE STRING TEST

In several papers,1 I have published numerous observations on the duodenal bucket and the value of the thread or string test. It is now about twelve years since my first paper on the duodenal bucket appeared. I thought it would be of interest to give you my experiences regarding the string test up to date.

Since the accuracy of the test will depend on the exactness of its performance I herewith give again a detailed description of this method.

METHOD OF USE  The patient swallows the duodenal bucket in the evening, late after supper, with a glass of water. The end of the thread is attached to the nightgown in such a manner that a length of from 30 to 32 inches from the lips can enter the digestive tract, and the bucket is allowed to travel by itself over night while the patient is asleep.
