To the Editor: Dr Kilgannon and colleagues1 reported significantly increased in-hospital mortality in hyperoxic patients (arterial PO2 >300 mm Hg) following cardiac arrest. Data suggesting a similar effect were reported 34 years ago by Rawles and Kenmure,2 who found that an increased concentration of inspired oxygen may not increase oxygen delivery to the heart. Indeed, increased concentrations of inspired oxygen decrease coronary blood flow.3
